Survey Notification
Thank you to the 563 artists and creatives who completed the survey. We have drawn the 5 winners who will each receive $100 voucher. They have been notified.
The early results indicate there is a strong interest in both community housing for artists and creatives (73%) and a Universal Basic Income for artists and creatives (78%).
Artists and creatives have a lack of financial and housing security. Only one in six (15%) have permanent work in their field. Most survive on contract work, commissions, and casual work. Around half also work outside their creative practice, such as working in hospitality. Around half (47%) say their income has decreased since Covid-19. Low incomes and poor income stability make securing housing or buying a house challenging for most of those working in the arts and creative industries.
We will be further reporting the results of the study and call to action shortly.
Ngā mihi,
Alex
